Carol Salas, Psy.D., , Institute on Developmental Disabilities, UCEDDFamilies of children with disabilities faced many challenges in meeting their health needs and the vulnerability during emergencies and disasters. Service providers are important sources of information for these families before and during emergencies.The main objective of this study was to describe the emergency preparedness strategies and needs of families of childcare centers with children with IDD during Hurricane Maria and earthquakes in Puerto Rico.

The Impact of COVID-19 on Quality of Life among Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and Direct Support Professionals

We will describe background information, and our research methods and findings. We will engage attendees in discussions around potential policy recommendations supported by our findings. This session may be relevant to those interested in: advocacy, health care, policy, direct support work, and emergency management.
